South Molton is rich in traditional architecture and has a growing reputation for its antique shops, fine arts and crafts and local produce.
It is predominantly a rural, farming community surrounded by beautiful farmland and countryside - although it is home to several large businesses such as Mole Valley and Norbord.
South Molton is the closest North Devon town to Exmoor where Johnny Kingdom – wildlife enthusiast and TV personality - grew up and still resides.

South Molton originated in early Saxon times. It has a Royal Market Charter which was granted by Henry VIII in 1590.
