Situated at the confluence of the Taw & Torridge rivers, this pretty estuary village has a real community feel.
Instow's wonderful scenic views make it a favourite haunt for artists and it is also a great place for watersports, rowing and sailing enthusiasts. Indeed the North Devon Yacht Club has its home at the former railway station.
Some of the most spectacular sunsets ever to be witnessed in North Devon can be seen over Instow as the sun disappears behind the horizon of Bideford Bay.
Instow has some great local stores and some of the best eateries in the area and there is a passenger ferry service which connects to its sister town of Appledore.
Due to its stunning scenery and great location Instow is considered to be one of the more expensive areas in North Devon to buy property.
A bit of history:
Instow is also the home of Tapely Park and Gardens where the Christie family reside. Tapeley's history is known in detail as far back as 1316 and has been in the family of present owner - Hector Christie - since as far back as 1855.
The Christie's are an important family in North Devon who own a great deal of land including the beaches of Instow and Saunton, and the sanddunes of Braunton Burrows - and who pride themselves in conserving the area.
