Area & Location > Combe Martin

Combe Martin was once a very prosperous harbour, exporting locally grown strawberries and hemp.

Today it is a flourishing holiday resort, and its main village street is reported to be the longest street in the country at over 2 miles long!

It is a medium sized village with a good selection of shops and eateries, but a trip to nearby Ilfracombe will provide you with additional facilities.

The idyllic nearby village of Berrynarbor is a haven of peace and tranquillity, even during the height of the summer season.  Having won many awards in both "Britain in Bloom" and "Best Kept Village in Devon" competitions, the attractive well kept gardens and floral displays are outstanding.

A bit of history:
In the 16th Century precious metal - including silver - was mined here ensuring a flourishing industry in its time.
